Sweet Christina! What a delightfully simple little number this cool aqua pearl necklace is. With little triangles dangling showing peep holes for some negative space for the skin underneath, it will look like lace on the bodice. A perfect necklace which can be worn with blues, aqua, cream and black. Truly a lovely design that is a good start to any young woman’s accessory collection as well as for a bridesmaid. Heavenly!

I wanted to share an image from an old movie where I often find inspiration for a design. I wanted to create a looped pattern around the front of the neckline as you see in the Christina above and saw the basis of the style in the movie Jezel with Bette Davis. Unfortunately it is difficult to see here but the design is almost identical to what I had envisioned. When I think back on it, I must have been inspired by much of my passion for jewellery designing when I first fell in love with old movies.

Inspiration for me comes from the strangest places but very often from a retro image or often a movie from a bygone era.  For this lovely pastel aqua pearl necklace above inspiration came from the necklace worn by Ava Gardner (below).  Ava liked wearing almost strangle hold tight pearl necklaces, but not here. This pearl necklace is not quite as close fitting and relaxes on her neck and giving an air of supreme femininity and dreamy like grace which I like to think is due to the softness in the pearls of the necklace. The subtle lustre of her pearls caresses her olive skin and looks as though it’s actually part of her. This then is the feel I wanted to bring to these exceptionally beautiful high grade aqua pearls seen here. This sweet and silky see through design does not over power the pearls I was so drawn to.. and will be just perfect for any wearer who desires a subtle touch of pearl rather than the starkness of all whites. I think it works well.

These are the first earrings we’ve made in a brass motif…and I think the affect is amazing….we’ve tried hard to keep our pricing steady…even though silver has skyrocketed in price over these last years..but we’ve maintained our unique pricing…so to keep this gorgeous design under A$150 mark we’ve tried another metal…we believe in using natural metals in our jewellery and we are fairly sure it’s the key to most of our success…therefore although these mystical wings are brass… the hooks are of course….sterling silver.. and the each hand carved (facetted) bright emerald green, bead is added by hand too…this may not seem like much effort to some… but it’s actually a painfully slow process, as each bead is slightly different and so getting the clustered drop to swing freely… needs miniscule twists and turns to get the accuracy just right. Not complaining ….as we love making these gorgeous earrings….just letting you know that quality sometimes takes a little time to create.
